below the castle but above the dungeons is the basement, which is rarely cold as the kitchens are close by. those of hufflepuff house got the best deal as their common room is down here.

always dark, always damp and always depressing, the dungeons of hogwarts aren't the most pleasant place to be. unfortunately for those of slytherin house, their common room is down here.

this part of the castle is always filled with busy house elves, rushing around to prepare food for the students and staff before sending it up to the great hall. some students also come down to get snacks and the elves are happy to help.

BELOW GROUND
the majority of hogwarts can be seen above the ground but there is a significant part of the castle beneath the floor, even extending beneath the lake. it is here that the dungeons, basement, and kitchens can be found.
