the majority of hogwarts can be seen above the ground but there is a significant part of the castle beneath the floor, even extending beneath the lake. it is here that the dungeons, basement, and kitchens can be found.

considering hogwarts is a school, it would seem rather pointless if it didn't have any classrooms. some lessons take place outside of the castle but a board has been provided for those lessons anyway.

for each house there is a common room in which the students can gather to relax or celebrate significant occasions like winning a quidditch match. there are also separate dormitories for boys and girls with five people in each room.

the main entrance to hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry opens up into a large hall on the ground floor. from here you can go into the great hall, down into the dungeons, or up the grand staircase to the higher floors and towers.

at certain times during the day, everyone at the castle gathers for a meal and sometimes even a feast or a ball if the occasion is significant enough. it's also a popular hangout to catch up on work for those that don't want to be seen in the library.

unfortunately some students are foolish enough to break the rules and end up breaking their bones too, in which case they are brought to the hospital wing to be healed by the school nurse. other injuries however are genuinely accidents.

there are many books at hogwarts, some of which are necessary in order to participate in lessons and pass exams whilst others are just to read during the precious hours spent outside of lessons.

each member of teaching staff at hogwarts has their own office in which to mark work and plan lessons. attached to each office is a dormitory in which the professors catch up on their sleep to prepare for the stresses of the next day.

some parts of hogwarts require the crossing of a gap, in which case a bridge is clearly the most appropriate method of getting from a to b without falling to your death.

some of them are in the sun whilst others are in the shade, but it depends on the time of day as to which you get, as well as the weather. they're popular hangouts for the students.

with so many dangerous creatures in the forest that wouldn't think twice about tearing up a student or even a member of staff, it's no wonder that the forest is out of bounds. even so, people still break the rules regardless of the chances they might not walk out in one piece.

herbology lessons take place in these greenhouses but some students come here outside of lessons to get help with their work or do some extra learning.

as well as flying lessons, the quidditch pitch is used for team practices and ultimately for quidditch matches between the houses.

a high street runs through the middle of hogsmeade village with many shops selling many objects. it is very popular with hogwarts students and the staff too, though they are only allowed to visit on weekends and with a signed permission slip.

a primarily muggle street in london by the name of grimmauld place has houses with grimy fronts and some even have broken windows. paint is peeling on several of the doors, and bags of rubbish wait outside to be collected.

founded by hengist of woodcroft, the village of hogsmeade is one of very few settlements in the united kingdom that is home only to wizards. it is most popular for its high street and also for the shrieking shack.

some wizards prefer to live away from other people and so it is sometimes difficult to say exactly where they live. for those that can afford to live with few or no neighbours, their houses can be found here.

a small town in devon built beside the otter river, ottery st. catchpole is home to both wizards and muggles, including the weasley family. stoatshead hill can also be found here, as well as a newspaper shop.

Sub-board: THE BURROW

one of several streets lined with deserted brick houses is spinner's end. the streetlamps are broken and the nearby river is dirty with banks covered in litter. an abandoned mill with a tall chimney is nearby.

even the magical world has its problems, many of which come in the form of criminals, though their magical abilities makes them rather more difficult to deal with than those of the muggle kind.

the largest of its kind in the world, the romanian dragon sanctuary is a preservation area set up by harvey ridgebit to protect and study dragons of various species, including the notably dangerous hungarian horntail.

there are many other places to learn magic apart from hogwarts, even if it is said to be one of the best in the world. some of these schools do specifically teach magic whilst others are dedicated to other areas such as performing arts.
