Professor Queller felt that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry wasn't properly equipped in terms of staff to provide the students with the best education possible. She discussed the matter with Professor Dumbledore, and although he had some concerns about how some members of staff would react, he agreed that more staff would improve the standards of education at the school. As a result, an additional professor was employed for each subject.
Many of the professors were pleased to have some of the pressure taken off of them, allowing them more time to focus on fewer classes and maybe even give them a minimal form of a social life. Some of the professors weren't pleased however. Professor McGonagall felt that Queller deemed the staff incapable of doing their jobs properly and so is avoiding the Headmistress where she can, having only just got over the impacts Dolores Umbridge left on the school last year when Queller was away for personal reasons and Dumbledore left as opposed to going to Azkaban.
Following the events of the previous year, Professor Trelawney and Professor Firenze are now both teaching Divination, the Seer somewhat more disappointed than the centaur though they are civil towards each other and carry on teaching as normal. Other professors however don't get on at all with their new colleagues, such as Professor Snape having to share lessons with someone else after finally getting the position he had been seeking for so long. Professor Hagrid seems happy to share classes with Professor Grubbly-Plank, but he is almost competing with her to teach the most exciting lessons to gain favour from the students.
Only time will tell if the decision will work out or not, but for the time being the staff will have to work together if they want to fulfil the original motives of the change: giving the students the education they deserve.
