-x- A small bell chimed above her as Vettalonie entered the small bookshop. She was surprised to find it still bustling with numbers of people. A few faces she recognized from school. She didn’t feel a need to speak with any of them. Instead she slipped through the throngs of people toward one of the staircases at the back of the store. The hustle and bustle from the first floor was very out of place in this time, but she wasn’t going to question it. Maybe that’s why the Alley itself was so deserted. As she moved between people she glimpsed parents talking with other parents and the kids standing by, listening grimly. She sighed heavily and continued.
-x- The staircase toward the back of the store was more or less deserted. Only a few students hung back here, whispering something to each other. They glanced at V as she passed, but she paid them no mind. What did she care? Let people think of her what they want. In her mind she was stronger than them. And she didn’t care what they thought of her anyway. Moving up the stair two at a time, the bookshelves here were silent and warning. A small shiver ran down her spine. Needless to say it was kinda creepy up here alone. The lighting was dim but she continued forward anyway.
-x- She moved down one stack of shelves slowly, just browsing through the titles, looking for anything in particular that sounded interesting. She didn’t have a ton of money, but she had enough for her school books and at least one or two extra readings. It would probably be something about magical creatures and what not. She enjoyed the subject way too much for her own good, but she really didn’t care much at all. V wasn’t paying attention, looking at more titles of books, as she rounded the stacks and ran straight into someone. She jumped back as if electrocuted and glared at the person in front of her. ”Jeez… why didn’t you say something?” V asked harshly. She looked at the person a moment longer. V had seen them around school once or twice, but never really knew who exactly they were. Her glare softened slightly and sighed. ”Sorry,” she muttered, practically under her breath. Vettalonie wasn’t exactly good with people at times.

Post by BLAIR C. WALDORF on Nov 26, 2010 19:49:53 GMT
A new year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was about to begin and Blair Waldorf had left it most unusually late to head out to Diagon Alley to purchase all of the necessary books and equipment for the studying ahead. This would be her first year learning at NEWT level and it wasn't an idea she was completely happy with. Even so, the books weren't going to buy themselves and Eleanor had made it quite clear that Dorota had other things to be getting on with instead of running errands for her. Blair couldn't understand why Dorota would prefer to clean the house instead of shopping for textbooks.
Her priority was books - the staff at Hogwarts always obsessed over keeping the equipment in excellent condition, but books were rarely the case. Students insisted so often on ruining them with absent-minded doodles and scribbles that the teachers had given up on removing the graffiti and as a result the school textbooks were tatty and almost impossible to use. Blair would use a school cauldron if she had to but she would not use a school textbook. Flourish and Blotts was her immediate destination, after filling her purse at Gringott's of course. She headed straight into the shop and up the stairs, scanning the shelves briefly on her way up in case they held any of the books she required.
After successfully locating the whereabouts of the textbooks she needed for Transfiguration, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions and History of Magic, Blair walked back towards the corner of the bookshelf to head downstairs and find the Herbology section, as well as to find a few extra books to read when she had nothing better to do with her time. A large object moved into her path before she registered its presence, resulting in her books flying out of her hand and a temper to flare up from within her. She recognised the aforementioned object to in fact be a person, having been quite sure that she hadn't walked into the shelf.
Why didn't she say something? What sort of a question was that? Blair couldn't see any relevance of that enquiry to the current situation and so adopted her normal method for dealing with such occasions - ignore it. "This is the part where you pick up all of my books and apologise profusely for getting in my way." Blair had always been blunt. She wasn't about to waffle on about how sorry she was (mostly because she wasn't at all sorry) and that she should be more careful in future (mostly because it had been the other girl's fault). Instead she preferred to get straight to the point. It saved time for everyone. Eventually she received her apology, but it was the books that she wanted more than an apology. She didn't care if this girl thought she was rude - the Waldorf had come to Diagon Alley to buy the books, not to make friends.
This post was written by Vicky as Blair Waldorf. The lyrics are from Promise This by Cheryl Cole and the images are of Leighton Meester. The post was written for Vettalonie Aatto and is 497 words long. Blair is wearing this outfit and I'd just like to add that I have nothing to add right now.
